Municipal Election 2019

Notice is hereby given that a General Municipal Election for the City of Avondale Estates will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 to elect the Mayor and two (2) Commissioners to the Avondale Estates Board of Mayor and Commissioners.

The following candidates have submitted their qualifying paperwork:

For Mayor:

• Clai Brown

• Jonathan Elmore (Incumbent)

For Commissioner:

• Marguerite Belline

• Brian Fisher (Incumbent)

• Candace A. "Candy" Jones

• Dee Merriam

The City will host a Candidate Forum on Monday, October 7 at First Baptist Church Avondale Estates in the Family Life Center. The welcome and overview will begin at 5:45 p.m. with the first forum for commissioner beginning at 6 p.m. and running to 7:30 p.m. After a 15 minute break, the forum for mayor will start at 7:45 and run until 9:15 p.m. This moderated event will provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions and learn more about each candidate and his or her position on issues around the City. 

Voting will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Avondale Estates City Hall, 21 North Avondale Plaza from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Any person who is a resident of the City of Avondale Estates and who is registered with DeKalb County Board of Registrations and Elections as an elector within the City of Avondale Estates at least thirty (30) days prior to this election, shall be eligible to vote in this election The last day for voter registration, including a change of address, in the 2019 Municipal General Election and, if necessary, Runoff Election is Monday, October 7, 2019.
