[ARCHIVED] City Commissioners Candidate Forum Oct. 20

We want to hear from you

The City of Avondale Estates is pleased to host the City Commissioners Candidate Forum on Oct. 20 for candidates running in the November 2021 election. Two seats on the Board of Mayor and Commissioners will be on the ballot. Candidates elected in November will serve four year terms beginning January 2022.

Candidates include:

  • Ricardo Israel Korn
  • Lionel Laratte (Incumbent)
  • Lisa Shortell (Incumbent)

In order to ensure the nonpartisan standing of this forum, the City has enlisted Sam Whitehead, WABE* reporter and Avondale Estates resident, to moderate the forum.

Attendance at City Hall will be limited to 50 people, and the event will be streamed via Zoom. Masks are required for attendees. Candidates may choose to remove their masks when speaking.

Community members may submit questions to be asked of the candidates. All proposed questions go directly to the forum moderator. The city has no editorial input into the questions. Submissions must be received by Oct. 13, 2021. As you prepare your questions, please remember that candidates will be limited to answers not exceeding two minutes, and all candidates will be asked to answer all questions. Issues, not personalities, are to be addressed; no personal/abusive questions are to be asked.

*The forum is an event put on by solely by The City of Avondale Estates, Georgia. WABE is not affiliated with this event in any manner.
