The Board of Appeals hears appeals where there is an alleged error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the City's Building Official. The Board also authorizes variances from the terms of the Zoning Ordinance in accordance with the conditions listed in the ordinance and decides on other matters where the Board's decision is necessary. The Board is comprised of five (5) members who are residents of the city. The members are appointed by the BOMC and each serve 3-year terms.  

Lake Avondale Advisory Board

Seats: One Vacant Seat

Deadline for Applications: Friday, June 21 at 5 p.m.

The Lake Avondale Advisory Board provides expert advice to the City in preserving the beauty and vitality of Lake Avondale. The Board is comprised of five (5) members who are residents of the city and have experience in watershed/lake management, natural resource management, environmental management and environmental engineering. The Board reviews the conditions of the lake and its surrounding areas and makes recommendations to the BOMC for lake improvement projects.

Arboretum Board (New)

Deadline for Applications: Friday, June 28 at 5 p.m.
The new Avondale Estates Arboretum Board is looking for residents interested in being inaugural members. Applicants need to be committed to establishing our neighborhood arboretum and familiarize themselves with the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program, particularly the Level I Criteria, which they hope to quickly achieve. The successful applicants must have strong organizational skills and an ability to engage others in pursuing the goals of an arboretum plan. They will assist in mapping trees identified for the Arboretum, preparing a brochure explaining the Arboretum to the public, and in placing identifying markers at these trees.
