On November 17, 2020 at 4:42 P.M. uniform patrol units from the Avondale Estates Police Department (AEPD) investigated a report of an entering auto in the 100 block of Locust Street as the result of calls from citizens who observed two male suspects. During the initial investigation it was determined that a handgun was stolen from inside the victim’s vehicle. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been unlocked. 

Witnesses on Locust Street described the suspects as young (possibly juvenile), Black males with one wearing a dark color hoodie and the other wearing a yellow hoodie. The AEPD, being assisted by the DeKalb County Police Department, set up a perimeter and began a search of backyards and garages. After a thorough search of the area no suspects were observed.

At approximately 7:57 P.M. uniform patrol units from the AEPD were dispatched to an address on Dartmouth Avenue regarding a report of a stolen vehicle. The owner of this vehicle also stated that the vehicle had been unlocked. 

Uniform patrol units of the DeKalb County Police Department-South Precinct recovered the stolen vehicle on Robin Point Drive in unincorporated DeKalb County at approximately 4:30 A.M. No suspects were developed during the recovery of this vehicle.

Investigation of both incidents are being handled by the Avondale Estates Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
