[ARCHIVED] City Hall Open to Respond to Residents Needs During Severe Weather

Square logo

Sanitation service will not operate Monday, allowing all Public Works  associates the opportunity to respond to weather related emergencies or  situations. Those who were scheduled to have sanitation service pick up  on Monday should expect collection on Thursday, September 14. It is  expected that sanitation services will resume a normal schedule Tuesday,  September 12.

The City of Avondale Estates City Hall is open, as associates continue to monitor the weather system that could  bring significant rain and wind to the area throughout the day.  Residents needing assistance of any type are encouraged to call City  Hall at 404-294-5400.

In  preparation for the potential of severe weather, the City's Police and  Public Works associates are standing ready to respond to any special  needs or emergencies that may arise from the storm. Crews are currently  circulating throughout the City to maintain open roadways, remove  debris, and keep stormwater drains clear to lessen the effects of  significant rainfall and ponding. Equipment and resources are ready to  be mobilized to ensure public safety, and remove fallen trees and other  hazards.

DeKalb County is among the 82 counties are under a  Tropical Storm Warning, including 16 metro Atlanta counties. Peak winds  could reach 30 to 40 mph (48 to 64 kph) with gusts of up to 55 mph (88  kph). Wind damage, such as the widespread downing of trees and power  lines, remains the primary threat in metro Atlanta.
