The Avondale Estates Police Department (AEPD) will offer a one-day training class on Saturday, May 19, 2018, for residents interested in joining the Avondale Estates Citizen Patrol program.
Now in its fourth year, the program is a mobile neighborhood watch made up of citizen-volunteers who serve as extra eyes and ears for the AEPD. It is modeled after chapters around the country that have successfully lowered crime rates in their neighborhoods. To be eligible for the training class and Citizens on Patrol program, residents must be 21 years or older and pass a criminal background check.
