Ethics Board (5-year term)

This board meets on an as-needed basis.
The Ethics Board shall consist of three members, one appointed by the Mayor, one appointed by a majority vote of the Board of Mayor and Commissioners, and a third appointed by the two above named subject to approval by a majority vote of the Board of Mayor and Commissioners.
The ethics board has the power to:
•Establish procedures, rules and regulations governing its internal organization and conduct of its affairs;
•Receive and hear complaints of violations of the standards required by the ordinance;
•Adopt forms for formal complaints, subpoenas, notices, or any other forms the ethics board deems appropriate;
•Report its findings to the board of mayor and commissioners for such action as the Board of Mayor and Commissioners deems appropriate.
Planning and Zoning Board (4-year term)
Openings: 2 seats
This board meets the third Monday of each month.
The Planning and Zoning Board consists of five members who are residents of the City of Avondale Estates. The members are appointed by the Board of Mayor and Commissioners and each serves a four-year term.
The Board reviews and makes recommendations to applicants who are requesting a change in their land use, and to the Board of Mayor and Commissioners, who make the final decision to approve or deny an applicant's request during a public hearing on the proposal.
