[ARCHIVED] Lantern Parade 2018 - Sign Up for Classes Now

Lantern Parade

The Second Annual Lantern Parade for Avondale Estates is scheduled to take place October 13. To participate in this popular event, you will need a paper lantern. Classes are being formed now to help you create these beautiful and unique designs. What kind of lantern do you want to carry?


Chantelle Rytter, the originator of the BeltLine, Decatur, and Sandy Springs Lantern Parades, will be leading four of the lantern making workshops at Little Tree Art Studios (2834 Franklin St, Avondale Estates). All lantern making materials will be provided at the workshop with your registration (Please note that the 9/23 class is free, but you will need to bring your own materials).

  • 9/23 Sunday: Little Tree Studios,
    1-4 p.m. Free Form Lanterns $0, bring your own materials (list will be provided) with Peter Plishka, Pete Anziano, Camille Harvey, Register by email.
  • 10/6 Saturday: Little Tree Studios,
    10 a.m.-1 p.m., Globe Lanterns, $30,
    Register here, materials provided.
  • 10/6 Saturday: Little Tree Studios,
    2-5 p.m. Parasol Lanterns $35,
    Register here, materials provided.
  • 10/7 Sunday: Little Tree Studios,
    2-6 p.m., Willow Butterfly Lanterns $35,
    Register here, materials provided.
  • 10/9 Tuesday: Little Tree Studios,
    6:30-9 p.m., Hat Lanterns $35,
    Register here, materials provided.

Lantern Making Resources:


Garage Door Studio will have basic globe lantern kits available for $25.
