The City of Avondale Estates received a $5,998.67 Safety Grant from the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA). The City will use the funds to purchase safety vests for the Police and Public Works departments. The GMA Safety and Liability Management Grant program provides a financial incentive to assist members in improving employee safety and public liability loss control through training and the purchase of equipment or services. Since its 2000 inception, over 130 cities have received grant money through the program, and over 500 grants have been approved totaling $1.5 million. Grants have funded items such as bulletproof vests, training videos, reflective safety vests, fire department turnout gear and more.
