[ARCHIVED] Road and Improvment Projects Along North and South Avondale Roads

Road Work

Construction Work at 84 and 88 North Avondale Begins Monday to Upgrade Driveways and Parking

Starting Monday, June 29, the Downtown Development Authority will be upgrading the parking and driveways in front of 84 N. Avondale Road (Finders Keepers Women’s Clothing) and 88 N. Avondale Road (Edwin Jarvis).

Parking for customers of these two businesses will be available around the ArtLot, just across Lake Street. Please use the front driveway into the ArtLot parking, as construction vehicles will be using Lake Street.

Traffic control will also be underway to allow crews to work safely close to N. Avondale Road.

The Downtown Development Authority of Avondale Estates appreciates community support of this promising new improvement to pedestrian and vehicle flow into and out of these businesses, as well as a safe and orderly parking solution behind them.

S. Avondale Road Lane Closure to Begin June 29
Construction to rehabilitate 515 linear feet of aging sewer pipe

On Monday, June 29, lane closures are set to begin for sections of the eastbound and westbound lanes along South Avondale Road near Dartmouth Avenue from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. while DeKalb Watershed Management (DWM) crews work to rehabilitate approximately 515 linear feet of aging, ductile-iron sewer pipe. These sections of South Avondale Road will reopen on Friday, July 3.

Motorists should expect traffic delays stemming from the lane closure. Signs and traffic flaggers will assist motorists in moving safely around the lane closure. Construction crews will work diligently to minimize the length of impact to motorists.

For more information, visit the DWM website at www.dekalbwatershed.com, call the DWM Project Information Line at 1-800-986-1108 or email: projectinfo@dekalbcountyga.gov.
