Planning and Zoning Board
Needed: Three
Deadline: Friday, September 25 at 5 p.m.
If you would like to have more input on the City’s future growth while also learning more about zoning then the Planning and Zoning Board (PZB) could be the right fit for you. This board has five-year terms and meets the third Monday of most months.
The PZB was created by the City to hear all applications for rezoning and land use permits, as well as make recommendations to the Board of Mayor and Commissioners on any action for such applications. In evaluating the applications, the PZB considers the zoning code and map and takes into account public input and applicable criteria before making a recommendation.
Board of Appeals
Openings: Four
Deadline: Friday, October 3 at 5 p.m.
The Board of Appeals meets as necessary to consider variance requests from property owners. Variances allow minor deviations from zoning requirements that regulate how a property may be developed, but only when unique circumstances affecting that particular property are demonstrated. Variance requests before the BOA often include:
- Exceeding building height maximum
- Reducing front, side, or rear yard setbacks
- Reduction of minimum stream buffer requirements
- Reducing parking requirements
